A budget app for Germany that doesn't want your bank login

Most popular budgeting apps in Germany, like Finanzguru, start by connecting your bank account. That works for some people. Many others, especially if you are new to Germany, don't want to hand over their banking access, or find that a bank statement only tells them "REWE €63.40".

Belegio takes a different route: it reads your receipts.

How it works

  1. Sign in with Google, or with Apple on iPhone. No bank account to connect.
  2. Snap your receipt. The scanner finds the edges, and you can scan up to 10 receipts in one go. PDFs and gallery photos work too.
  3. Check the lines. Store, date and every item with price, discount and VAT appear on one screen.
  4. Fix a category once in the receipt details. The app remembers it for that item on your next receipts.
  5. See your month by category, top stores and the most expensive weekday.

Why receipts instead of the bank?

  • Every item, not one line per shop. Your bank sees "LIDL €50.15". Your receipt lists 28 items.
  • Price history. See how the price of anything you buy regularly changes, and where it was cheapest.
  • Cash counts too. Paper receipts from the bakery or the market work the same way.
  • For two. Invite one partner. Both of you see the shopping list, budgets and subscriptions; private receipts stay private.

In English, built in Germany

The app runs in English, German, Turkish, Russian, Spanish and Persian. Data is stored on a server in Germany and receipt photos are stored encrypted. To read the receipt, the photo is sent, with your consent, to an AI text-recognition service in the US. Personal data is not sold.

Price

Free with up to 10 receipts a day and ads. Premium is €3.99 per month without ads, cancel any time.

FAQ

Does it work with German receipts from Lidl, Rewe, Aldi, dm?
Yes. Lidl and dm have dedicated, tested templates; around 70 chains are recognised by name; everything else goes through general recognition. The app checks that the items add up to the printed total.
Can I export my data?
Yes, as CSV with one line per receipt (date, store, category, amount). Item-level reports are available inside the app.
Is there a bank sync?
No, on purpose. Belegio works only with the receipts you choose to scan.
